Sketch Comedy Lab

Welcome to the new and improved student writers room!

Since 2020, our monthly online writers room has given students of all backgrounds an opportunity to share and receive feedback on their comedy sketches. It has become a welcome space to encourage and inspire students to write more. Join for the Sketch Comedy Lab —

Monday, November TBA
Studio Acting Conservatory
3423 Holmead PL NW
Washington, DC
7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Please register here.

The sketch writing prompt for the September session: “Write a sketch that takes place at a Renaissance fair.”

But don’t worry, prompts aren’t mandatory and only meant to spark ideas. In fact, you don’t even need to bring a sketch. Please join us to offer feedback, be supportive, or help with read-throughs.

If you have any questions, please email (Isaiah) at badmedicinecomedy@gmail.com. We love hearing from the sketch community far and wide. Events this year will be in-person, however we hope to include a hybrid format for remote writers in the near future.

See you in the lab!

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to bring something to read?
No. You can join us to help read other sketches and offer feedback.

Is the writing prompt manditory?
No. It’s meant to spark ideas if you’re stuggling to write something.

Do participants need to print out sketch scripts to bring to the meeting? Or does everyone need to bring a computer?
Sadly, we do not have access to a printer, so please bring your own printed scripts. Otherwise there will be a Google drive folder that everyone can upload their scripts to and access via phone or computer.

Will there be no more online meetings?
No. At this point, we’re pushing our in-person events. But we hope to find a hybrid balance of in-person and online writers rooms.
